Positive Qualities:

  • Unshakable confidence and strength
  • Knowing we are only responsible for the things we choose
  • Able to ask for help and to delegate when necessary

  • Being realistic and practical about turning ideals and plans into actions
  • Letting go of any need to be perfect

Patterns of Imbalance:

  • Temporary inadequacy for the task in hand
  • Capable, responsible people becoming overwhelmed
  • Temporary loss of strength and confidence
  • Striving for perfection in all tasks
  • Weighed down by excessive sense of duty and obligation

There is a type of person associated with Elm, Bach wrote, ‘ Those who are doing good work, are following their calling and hope to do something of importance, and this often for the benefit of humanity. At times there may be feelings of depression when they feel the task they have undertaken is too difficult.’

Elm is a temporary state of mind arising out of our responsibilities seeming too burdensome and feeling overwhelmed by a sense of inadequacy. Exhaustion due to constant efforts to perform, a feeling of not being able to keep up or that responsibilities are getting too much are ways in which this state of mind can manifest.

 I have total confidence

I let go of being a perfectionist

I am only responsible for the things I choose

I have all the help I need

I let go of having to do everything
